Like most of the membership in Freedom of Road Riders, I got involved because I liked the parties. I had no idea that FORR or Local 8 was ever involved in anything but having parties. After a short time, my husband, Bob Reasoner, was elected Central Committee Representative for Local 8 (a position he held for 10 years) and I started attending CC meetings. Terry Lee Cook was running for Chairman, and he noticed that I took extensive notes during the meetings (for Bob to use in his Local 8 report). He needed a Secretary, and he asked me to join his Cabinet. I was CC Secretary for 6 years, and worked with 4 different Chairmen (Terry Lee Cook, Jerry Hancock, Adam Brown, and Wayne Tipton) – and developed an understanding of the purpose of FORR – and learned that there were ways to be involved that had nothing to do with FORR. Wayne “Tip” Tipton, Greg “Halfbreed” Mullanix, and Tom Pauley were instrumental in my finally taking the step to get involved in “Party Politics.” The Legislative Coordinators (They all served in that position at one time or another) kept telling the membership that the way to make a difference is to begin at the grassroots. The grassroots of party politics is the county committees. And, it was apparent that there were lots of openings on those committees in counties around the state. All you have to do is file for election – most of the positions are rarely opposed in the rural part of the state. That’s not always true in the city, but in out-state Missouri there are rarely full committees.
So, I convinced Bob that we should file – our seats were open on the Republican Committee in Livingston County. And, yes, we were elected, and we have been re-elected ever since! About the time I retired from public education, I was elected Chairman of the Livingston Co. Republican Committee. When you are Chairman, you are automatically a delegate to the legislative district committee, and the senatorial district. And, this year, I was elected State Committeewoman from the 12th Legislative District. Also, a few years back, some of the Legislative Committee for FORR decided that we might be able to make more headway by working within the Departments in the State government, than we were in the legislative efforts. So, we started setting up meetings within the Department of Transportation, and I began meeting with DOT people, Highway Safety people, Highway Patrol, Dept. of Revenue, etc. Those connections have become a valuable tool for Legislative Coordinator Mullanix at this time – good things are beginning to happen. I continue to serve on a committee working on the motorcycle section of the Blue Print for Highway Safety for Missouri. Also, I have been appointed to the Governor’s Motorcycle Safety Program Advisory Committee. Now that I’m not Chairman of FORR, I have been handling the event insurance for FORR Districts and Locals, and I’m District 2 Rep for Local 8, and District 2 Secretary/Treasurer. I’ve been very fortunate to progress through the ranks of Local/District/State involvement in FORR activities. All of this happened because in the beginning I enjoyed the parties. Best of all – I still like the parties. Freedom of Road Rider membership, and social events with the motorcycling community provide an opportunity to spend time with some of the nicest people in Missouri. Louis Reasener

Why did I join F.O.R.R. 22years ago I joined because I
believed we had a a purpose. Now I am thinking what are we
doing? I think that what we are doing is not worth our timeand I
know I am going to hear from alot of members but what have we
really done? Sure we have depenalized the helmet law we have
clutchs law but we still have the Helmet law! I think we need a
new approch its called an all out helmet protest and I am not
talking Freedom Of Road Riders I am talking every biker go to
Jefferson City and protest it's time to stop being the nice guy
because we have Senators like Chuck Graham that has said FREEDOM
OF CHOICE DOESN'T MATTER I don't know what country he lives in
but I live in America AND THAT IS WHAT THIS COUTRY IS BASED UPON
AND IF HE DOESN'T BELIEVE THAT THEN HE IS A DISGRACE TO AMERICA.
Why do you think that my 81 year old father
fought for this country? Why is Freedom Of Road Riders
being so nice they sure are not being so nice to us in Jefferson
City. And if you think they are I want to know where we heard
that? I have dedicated 22 years of my life to this org. and I am
tired of playing games. So jump down my throat and tell me I am
wrong it's time to take the gloves off. Oh well we will start
again next year when do we stand up and be counted? We have
people that has dedicated their lives to F.O.R.R. and I do
apreciate those and everyone that is a member but it's time to
stop and say enough is enough. You think these politicians give
a damm about us you are wrong! So get down on me because their
is one thing I am not wrong! Oh we will start over and over
Thank you. SO whos first to get on to me? Thank you

Well to begin I’m a rookie because I’ve only owned a bike and been riding since August of 2006. My first Rally was in September @ Homecoming. I entered my new 2007 Yamaha V-Star 650 in the bike show for small cruisers and I won third place and was I PROUD and HOOKED. I’ve rode on the back of bikes but never driven one and I didn’t have the luxury of motor bikes or four wheelers in my childhood so it was something I always wanted. Now that I’ve pretty much got my children raised I could indulge myself in something that I’ve always wanted. When I first joined FORR I didn’t have a clue about the organization, but since joining I have met some of the coolest people. People that have been doing this and riding bikes most of their lives and that’s awesome. The officers of Local 13 are great, hardworking people that really care about and believe in what they do within the local and for the organization. I’ve stepped up to try to help them and the Local. Local 13 is a great Local. We have a large numbers of members, however I’ve attended the meetings for several months now and the most members that have been in attendance is 11. We had a great turn out for the toy run and events. But it’s more than just getting on your bike and doing poker runs, etc. So much more! The laws and progress that has been made by FORR is astonishing, and to keep getting the freedoms and fulfillment out of what is going on WE ALL need to participate. I’m emailing my Local members that have email and reminding members of meetings and going ons so that we can get more members to be more active. We also have mailings to members. We have way over 100 in our local and I think I’ve met 20 and know 10 (they attend the meetings). I have been moved by what is going on. We do so much for the community that people don’t see or don’t want to see because we’re BIKERS. When you see it with your own eyes and get to participate in it, that’s when it’s an impact. People don’t realize with the Toy runs alone just how many lives we effect. Then there’s the freedoms and rights of motorcyclist that this organization promotes. If we could get everyone we know that rides or owns a bike to participate. How big we would be? Imagine what we could accomplish. That’s why I’ve stepped up and I’m asking other members to step up, too. Attend everything you can….Meetings as well as rides, runs and events. WE NEED EVERYONE. I believe in this. I’ve recruited 1 new member and am working on 4 more. I’m HOOKED and plan on RIDING LONG, HARD & FULL THROTTLE on the bike and for this organization. PEACE.

Hey Max,
I told you I would have you my letter today so here it
is.
I was asked to write a letter about "Why I joined FORR. & What
it means to me".
To be honest what made me join & want to know more about this
org. was the Preamble.& What FORR stands for.
I joined FORR in Dec. 01 & became a CC rep. in Jan. 02. I came
to my 1st CC meeting weekend TOTALLY UNINFORMED..!!!! When I left
there that weekend I had information
overload !! Yet something happened that weekend,,,, I can
not explain.
I look forward to our CC meets, not only for the exchange of
info, But it is like a family gathering every other month.
This is the first year I am not a CC rep. [ I am the
alternate] . I have told my local that I would still be there no
matter what. I have not missed one yet, I don't intend to start now
!!!
I could not imagine not going. I would miss All the brother & sister
hood, not to mention all of the information I would miss. It would
drive me crazy. [ I know that is a short walk] Ha Ha
I guess what I am trying to say is that I Love & believe Very
strongly in FORR & what we do . As far as I am
concerned, as long
as FORR is alive & breathing I will be a active part of this org.
